It helps to know people...

I went to a printmaking gallery today to see what the local artists are doing.  I'm also eager to know if there's any way I can get back into printmaking.  It often pains me to think that I rarely use all the skills I learned in college.  

Last thursday, one of my colleagues was handing out announcements for a show opening at a local printshop.  I decided to check it out, and as I started asking my colleague about the printshop and explaining that I have some background in printmaking, it came up that my aunt and uncle happen to be the THE Veatches from The Veatches Arts of the Book.  

Instantly, I went from being a random coworker who happens to have a BFA in Art (with a concentration in Printmaking and Photography) to someone worth collaborating with on silkscreen projects.  

It turns out that being lucky enough to have Lynne and Bob as my aunt and uncle is better than any degree from college.

I have the best family ever.
