So, mom asked me what Ullr meant.
Ullr was the Norse God of Winter (or hunting and skiing). As a result, skiers and snowboarders have started "worshipping" him as the one who brings us snow. Citizens of mountain towns burn old skis and snowboards in his honor as an offering, so that he will bless us with powder or massive snowstorms. This year he has been particularly generous.
