They weren't lying when they said that the desert is dry. It's pretty hard to find a place to cool off around here. Watershed protection efforts dictate that you can't play in some of the most inviting streams. I'm okay with this, because I would like to do my part to protect our watershed, but it makes it difficult for me because I love water. I love it in at least two of it's forms....liquid and solid (water and ice/snow).
This past weekend Jake and I went in search of water that we could play in, which took us a few hours northeast of Salt Lake City. Northeastern Utah is gorgeous. It's not as hot and dry as it is down here. The foliage is a bit more lush and it reminds me of Colorado. Why can't Black Diamond be up there?!
Tucked up in the corner of Utah which borders both Wyoming and Idaho there is a large lake called Bear Lake. The color of the water is similar to the carribean, and it was not as crowded as I would have suspected. The water was fairly warm, and I'm pretty sure I could have floated out there for hours, but, alas, it was a school night, and we had to drive another 3 hours to get home.
The west is huge.
